Langone Medical Center - Oncology

1999 Marcus Ave, New Hyde Park NY 11042

Architect: McGuire Group Architects

Our firm was selected to transform this former multi-tenant office building into a premier medical campus for NYU Langone’s growing health care practices.   As individual units become available, Eastman Cooke has partnered with NYU Langone and the building owners to make this seamless conversion from corporate office space to a specialized health care facility.

For the 1st floor project, our team was tasked with the full demolition of an existing medical office to expand and build out the oncology department for NYU Langone Medical Center. This 5,000-sq. ft. tenant fit out consisted of new examination rooms, consultation rooms, infusion bays, patient waiting rooms, and staff lounges.

In order to meet the Department of Health building requirements and design standards for an Article 28 space, we installed specialty hospital-grade materials such as specialty mill-work and high-end Armstrong wood ceilings, Xorel fabric wall coverings, and solid surface countertops at nursing stations. We modified the existing glass Atrium wall to accommodate a new entrance and feature wall, and modified building systems through a BMS tie-in and new HVAC units, which had to be elevated and installed on the rooftop. We coordinated all work with the Building Department, Nassau County Fire Marshall as well as the Department of Health.

We completed this complex and specialized project on time with careful consideration for building occupants, including staff, medical patients, other tenants and building management. There were also several long-lead items that were considered and built into the schedule.
