A growing trend in the health care market is the rise in ambulatory surgery and outpatient care facilities. As hospitals move away from a central campus design and expand their reach by building outpatient facilities in various geographic areas, they are able to serve more patients who may not want to navigate a giant hospital setting for their day-to-day care.
Peter Morandi, Eastman Cooke CEO, shared his thoughts on this growing market with the New York Real Estate Journal.
“Not too many years ago, hospital and medical practices weren’t doing these types of projects off-campus.”
But now, ambulatory surgery centers and other medical projects are keeping the NYC-based general contracting and construction management firm busy.
“These projects make up the majority of our life science portfolio.”
After completing multiple projects across Long Island and NYC, the firm is currently building two ambulatory surgery centers in Manhattan, with another planned for Queens next year.
